Sustainability
AGC Ceramics protects the Earth by contributing to energy saving, resource conservation, and high efficiency through the production and application of ceramic materials.
Sustainability Activities
AGC Ceramics is committed to creating three types of social value: “Blue Planet”, “Innovation”, and “Well-being”.
Sustainability Policy
Our company operates based on the AGC Group’s sustainability policies.
Initiatives for Key Opportunities and Risks
Addressing Climate Change Issues
Reducing GHG emissions from our own operations (Scope 1+2) and from our supply chain (Scope 3)
We are working towards carbon net zero by 2050 to realize a sustainable global environment. We have set milestones, as shown in the diagram below, and are actively pursuing this goal.
Reducing GHG emissions through products and services
We propose and provide customers with energy-saving, High Thermal Insulating Ceramics (Asahi Caster® TMT Series) and energy-saving glass melting furnaces (Ecolead Furnace), among others.
EHSQ (Environment, Safety, Disaster Prevention, Occupational Health and Safety, Quality)
EHSQ Policy
We manage EHSQ based on the AGC Group’s basic policies for environment, safety, disaster prevention, occupational health and safety, and quality.
Environment and Safety/Disaster Prevention
Environmental load reduction activities based on our environmental management system
We have obtained ISO14001 certification as part of the AGC Group’s multi-site environmental management system.
In manufacturing, we cooperate with AGC Kansai Plant (Takasago Factory), where our factory is located, to promote energy-saving activities in manufacturing processes and recycling of industrial waste. In development, we actively work on product development that contributes to energy-saving and environmental load reduction for glass melting furnaces and various industrial furnaces.
Disaster prevention activities in cooperation with AGC Kansai Plant (Takasago Factory)
We work closely with AGC Kansai Plant (Takasago Factory) on safety and disaster prevention activities. In particular, we focus on responding to natural disasters and conduct comprehensive disaster drills every year, assuming a Nankai Trough earthquake with a seismic intensity of upper 6. Employees of AGC and our company, as well as business partners and visitors to the site, participate in these drills to ensure safety throughout the facility in the event of a disaster.
Occupational Health and Safety
Improving occupational health and safety through our safety and health management system
We have established our own safety and health management system and are focused on its operation.
Enhancing safety awareness among workers
We have set up a safety experience facility in our factory that recreates various dangerous situations that may occur during the ceramics manufacturing process, and we regularly conduct training. By allowing our employees and business partners to actually experience these hazards, we raise safety awareness and apply it to overall safety management in the factory.
Improving working environment
We strive to create a fair and safe workplace. Recently, we invested in equipment to reduce noise from previously hard-to-control sources (such as grinding machines) to a level where protective gear is no longer necessary.
Quality
Maintaining and improving product and service quality through a quality management system
We have obtained ISO9001 certification. By advancing our digital infrastructure, we are working to improve data reliability and maintain and improve quality in our product and service inspection processes.
Social Contribution Activities
Support for Special Olympics Nippon
AGC Ceramics agrees with the philosophy of the Special Olympics, which promotes the independence and social participation of people with intellectual disabilities and has been making annual donations since 2003.
Sponsorship of Local Events
We sponsor events in the region where AGC Kansai Plant (Takasago Factory) (where our factory is located) is situated. In 2024, we sponsored the “Local Youth Baseball Tournament” and the “Takasago City Marathon”.
