Silicon nitride bonded SiC tiles/bricks have much better oxidation resistance, especially steam oxidation resistance, compared to ordinary silica-bonded SiC. Low reactivity with steam and alkali components in incinerators makes them ideal for boiler walls requiring high thermal conductivity.
